PRC Nursing Board Exam Schedule 2010

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced last Thursday that the 2010 nursing board exam has been rescheduled.

As per Commission Resolution No. 2009-537 dated November 13, 2009, the board examination has been moved from June and November to July and December.

The schedule of PRC Nursing Board Exam for 2010 would be as follows:

July 3 – 4, 2010
Deadline of Application
Repeaters: April 14, 2010
First Timers: May 14, 2010

December 12 – 13, 2010
Deadline of Application
Repeaters: September 8, 2010

Colder Baguio weather raises A (H1N1) fears

MANILA, Philippines - Residents of Baguio City are wearing warmer clothing for fear of catching cold and even the A (H1N1) virus after the city's temperature continued to drop in recent days.

Weather bureau PAGASA said temperatures at the country's famed summer capital dropped from 11.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday to 10.5 degrees Celsius Thursday morning. Still, the temperature is warmer than the 6.3 degrees Celsius recorded in Baguio City on January 18, 1961 - officially the coldest day on record in the City of Pines.

Danny Galati of the PAGASA Baguio office said icy winds coming from mainland China is causing the climate in Baguio to cool down. Residents admit they have been wearing winter clothes all day even during noontime when the sun is at its brightest.

Dr. Amelita Pangilinan of the Department of Health Cordillera Administrative Region said the cool weather could lead to a rise in the number of ailments such as cough and colds and possible infection from the influenza A (H1N1) virus. Health officials last recorded an A (H1N1) case in Baguio City last September.

Pangilinan advised residents to keep warm at all times and drink plenty of vitamins to fight infection.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 2 out of 90 passed the Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) given by the Board of Nursing in Hong Kong last December 2009.

The members of the Board of Nursing are Carmencita M. Abaquin, Chairman; Leonila A. Faire, Betty F. Merritt, Perla G. Po, Marco Antonio C. Sto.Tomas, Yolanda C. Arugay and Amelia B. Rosales, Members.

The performance of schools in the December 2009 Nurse Licensure Examination as per R.A. 8981 otherwise known as the PRC Modernization Act of 2000 Section 7(m) “To monitor the performance of schools in licensure examinations and publish the results thereof in a newspaper of national circulation” is as follows: (Any discrepancy in the report is not intentional on the part of the Commission, but rather due to miscoding of school codes by the examinees themselves. Concerned schools may write the Commission for correction.)

The examination was given by the Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, La Union, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Sulu, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last November 2009.

The oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination in Manila as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Monday and Tuesday, March 8 and 9, 2010, with morning (8:00 A.M.) and afternoon (1:00 P.M.) sessions at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City. All must come in their white gala uniform, nurse’s cap, white duty shoes, without earrings, hair not touching the collar and without corsage.

The Professional Regulation Commission reminded those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2010-2013. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Oath-taking tickets for the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby regions will be available at the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) at 1663 F.T. Benitez Street, Malate, Manila, starting Monday, February 8, 2010 on a “first come first serve” basis.
